Welcome to the Dandelion Wrangler.
My name is Laura Thomas. I am a Master Gardener, Photographer and Garden Communicator. Located in Port Coquitlam BC, I’ve been blogging since 2008, shortly after the birth of my second child. At home with the kids, I spent a lot time getting dirty, arms deep in the soil. My garden did well by all of the extra attention, winning 2nd place in the 2010 Pride of PoCo Garden Awards, and 3rd place in the 2012 Pride of Poco Garden Awards in the Front yard category.
“I can get a *little* garden obsessed. I needed an outlet to talk about plants, post a ba-jillion photo’s and generally let my crazy out. “
Adventures in Blogging. It may have started as a photo blog, but it didn’t stay that way for long. Soon it became an alter ego and a passion. I found myself doing things outside of my bubble that I would have never expected to do. Like camping out out in the parking lot at VanDusen Botanical Gardens, in the wee hours of the morning to score first place in line at the biggest plant sale in Vancouver. Or agreeing to a local news spot on compost to kick off Earth Day.
As I grew, so did my blog. In 2011 Apartment Therapy Named the Dandelion Wrangler #2 on their list of 10 Garden Blogs You Really Should Check Out! Soon after I started writing with Proven Winners®, becoming their Garden Guru and Regional Blogger for Western Canada. Writing for a National audience about gardening in beautiful British Columbia, somebody pinch me! Since then I’ve hosted book reviews & giveaways as well as carried out product reviews. This past winter of 2012 I joined the Garden Writers Association. Bringing us to today, where this little blog is still growing. I look forward to continuing to bring my readers great content and cool feature products.
Let’s Gab. Do you have a question? Want to share a story, or just tell me I’m pretty? Well I’d love it if you’d drop me a line in the comments, and I’ll answer as best I can. I’ll be honest, perfection takes time. So please bear with me if I don’t reply right away. I’ve likely wandered off on a garden trail doing a power weeding, or I’m out back enjoying a mojito. A girl’s got to make use her mint!
