A Romantic Walk in the Rain with my Sweetheart

Last week Michael & I visited Vancouver for the opening of Touch Wood at VanDusen Botanical Gardens. We enjoyed a wonderful evening of art, fantastic food and great company in one of the most beautiful gardens in BC. It was a delightful evening, made all the more so with a walk through the gardens. Together, we enjoyed the stunning wood carvings blended into the landscape with a gardeners touch.

Watremark_DSC_2988-2My husband is an absolute sweetheart. One of the many personality traits that made me fall in love with him over a decade ago. He is a classic gentleman with a wicked sense of humor. These traits came out in full force that evening when as the rain continued he rushed back to the car to get an umbrella for our garden walk. With a twinkle in his eye he proudly proclaimed himself my ‘Umbrella Boy’.

With that we started on our walk through the garden where he spent the next hour holding my umbrella for me so I could take pictures of the art work.

What a man. <3

I took many pictures of the wood carvings, which you can find on my previous post on Touch Wood. Due to Michael’s near heroic efforts I was also able to get lost in the rain drops and grab some snaps of the gardens looking lush and full of colour during an early summer rain storm.

The water Lilies have begun to bloom. I spotted a pink one!

Now that summer’s arrived why not plan a date at the garden with your special someone? A walk through the flowers, a picnic lunch, or maybe you’d rather get lost together in the hedge maze. No matter what you do, nothing beats a visit to the garden with your sweetheart. Rain or shine, there’s always something to see, and so much to do.

Touch Wood runs at VanDusen Gardens from June 20th through the end of September.
