The BC Home & Garden Show: Ticket Giveaway!

It’s Garden show season!

We’ve been rocking through February. Seeds are starting, birds are chirping, and the jackets have gotten a little lighter. This time of year there are a lot of garden resources available for free, or next to it. Yep Spring on her way, and what better way to celebrate than with a visit to a local greenhouse or Garden show!

Next week I’ll be blogging live from the Northwest Flower & Garden Show in Seattle, but if you’re in the Vancouver area, there are lots of awesome garden events going on. Here are some of the local highlights to look out for in the coming weeks:

  • The BC Home & Garden show arrives at BC Place from February 20th-24th. Bringing contractors and designers together, hosting loads of free (with entry) seminars and workshops for the green thumb and home renovator alike. Be sure to stay for the Vancouver Suns Gardener School with Steve Wysall. The talks are fun and informative, and they’ve got a great line up of speakers this year. It’s worth the trip!
  • In need of seeds? Or just want to talk seeds with some pros? On Saturday February 23rd Join the Vancouver Master Gardeners at VanDusen Gardens for Seedy Saturday! Bring a friend, learn and share. Don’t miss the opportunity to peruse the rows of hard to find seeds and timeless standards. It’s a fun, and entry is by donation. Or make a day out of it. Spend the morning talking seeds and then hop on down to the BC Home & Garden Show for an afternoon of workshops and new plant finds. It’s what I did last year, and it was tons of fun!
  • On Saturday, March 9th at 10am join Amsterdam Greenhouses and Garden Centre for a free workshop on ‘New Plant Introductions for 2013’. They’ve got a ton of free courses this spring to help you get in the garden. Check out their full listing of classes available on their site.

Contest Alert!

If you’re not already, any of these courses and seminars will get you jazzed about spring! And because I’ve already pulled out my jazz hands (picture it….picture it….) I’m giving away a pair of tickets to the BC Home & Garden Show to two lucky winners. That’s right, you can spend the day listening to VanDusen’s own Harry Jongerden  speak about ‘Nature for a new generation.’ Or follow Steve Wysall on a tour of the best gardens in Europe. Just make sure to think of me while your sampling craft beer near the show gardens, k?

So you wanna win?

Head on over to read my recent review of Home Harvest Farms Stainless Steel Terraced Garden. Once you have, head on back here and tell me in the comments what you would plant in your Home Harvest Farm. The closes Monday at 8pm PST, and I’ll contact the winners that night. Make sure to leave an email I can contact you with in your comment.

If you’re just too impatient to wait for the winner to be announced, then I have just the deal for you! BC Home & Garden Show is offering a coupon code to all of my readers! Follow this link for tickets! Use the promo code: BLOG to save $4 off regular adult admission to the show. This offer is good through the entirety of the show.

Have fun at the show!

  1. Would this be a good show to attend for a landscaper like my friend http://shapesandscapes.co.nz

I’m gonna say… Tomatoes! Nothing like a fresh vine ripened garden picked tomato.
