We did a lot of blueberry picking this past summer. The kids gobbled them up! They went in pancakes, with yogurt, in muffins and on ice cream. We ate them stand alone, and in fruit salads. They were brought to parties and shared by all as we enjoyed a fantastic local grown fresh fruit.
Despite the blueberry fiesta that was last summer, I still have some left in the fridge for those special Sunday morning pancakes, to be mixed into smoothies or as a fabulous treat on a fabulous day. We were lucky to get one last visit to our local u-pick before the summer ended.
If you didn’t scurry away some extra berries like I did, I highly recommend dropping Janelle a line over at Alouette Tree Farm in Maple Ridge, and place an order for some of their yummy frozen no spray blueberries. They’ve also got some fantastic recipes for those frozen treats, to make for your sweetheart this Valentine’s day.
Eat good, feel good, and support a local farmer!
