Lights and Sights!

Pinterest

With the onset of the Brrrrrrrr effect, my mind has turned to all that twinkles on the darkest of nights. I’ll admit to occasionally turning on the lights that have thus far made it up. I can’t help myself. It’s a real problem….

We are currently putting together our Christmas garden. The lights should all be set up and ready to go by mid week. This year the reindeer and the Christmas tree will be getting a little company! We’ve added a bunch more lights to the garden, and are currently shopping for another lit character to add to the mix. The kids are already buzzing about it!
With that in mind I will be getting my twinkle fix early this year with a visit to the Festival of Lights! The family and I will be heading over on opening weekend to kick off this, the season of lights!

The Deets.

VanDusen Botanical Gardens will once again be hosting the Festival of Lights! Opening from December 10th to January 2nd (closed Christmas day) from 430pm-9pm. Complete with hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights, the aroma of hot chocolate and live music fill the air. The garden comes to life with a dancing light show on Livingstone Lake. It takes place every half hour on the half hour, through out the evening. Santa will be there, telling Christmas stories in Santa’s living room. Santa makes his appearance at 530, 630, 730 & 830pm. With great activities for kids of all ages, VanDusen Botanical Gardens brings winter to life in a fun, safe and beautiful atmosphere! While your there make sure to stop and take a listen to the Community Concert Choir on the deck, while enjoying some warm waffles or my favorite mini donuts!

Make sure you buy your ticket in advance at the Gift Shop or through Ticket Tonight to avoid the long lines, and as always arrive with enough time to scout out parking, or heck take transit if possible to avoid the parking lot all together! Prices are quite reasonable. The family pass is by far the best deal, but don’t forget that children under 6 are FREE!
